FIBRWRAP CONSTRUCTION

The connection between the new Woodlands Station and the existing Woodlands Bus Interchange (NS9) constructed in 1993 posed difficulties because of the intricate transportation layout of both the new and old facilities.

The issue of obstructive pile caps in the path of the new bus lane in the upcoming transportation system was resolved with the installation of newly installed piles and pile caps. The existing transfer beams were extended, and underpinning was conducted to transfer the load from existing piles to the newly constructed ones and their respective pile caps. Then, the connection between the transfer beam and the extended beam was cast before demolishing the existing pile caps.

In addition, the TYFO® Fibrwrap® System was adopted to strengthen the transfer beams, as they were subjected to an increased bending moment and shear forces due to the beam extension.
