Strengthening to Carpark Slabs at Bukit Timah Plaza Multi-Storey Carpark

Bukit Timah Plaza, a convenient shopping place opened in 1979. It is connected to the Sherwood Tower Condominium and is located in the central region of Singapore. Over about 30 years, severe cracks were developed in the structures at 3 levels of its multi-storey carpark. The cracks were serious enough for Building and Construction Authority to seal off the carpark and order an urgent repairs and strengthening works.

The TYFO^® Fibrwrap^® Composite System in combination with other conventional methods like using steel sections and slab topping up were deemed as the most effective strengthening system for the required works which necessitated speed, light-weight and minimal change to aesthetics. In total, 440 slab panels spread across 3 levels of the carpark were rectified.

Overall, the entire rectification works were completed smoothly within three months to all parties’ satisfaction.
