The floating platform at Marina Bay hosts many significant events in Singapore annual calendar and amongst them, the highly anticipated Singapore’s National Day celebrations. Being a highly sensitive and high profile venue, durability of this floating platform needs to be maintained especially the exposed portion of steel pipe piles of linkways between the land and the floating platform.
In this case, to meet the requirements of a non-corrosive, non-conductive, watertight and abrasion-resistant material, the TYFO® Fibrwrap® Composite System was chosen as this method ensured that the steel piles would be shielded against corrosion-causing agents from the very beginning. The TYFO® Fibrwrap® Composite jacketing systems were applied as those met the requirements of this project. The advantage of using this state-of-the-art technology enabled the project to be completed on time to fit in between the tightly scheduled functions and events. Also, the system could be installed underwater without any requirement for cofferdams.
As per the strict guidelines for installation of the TYFO® Fibrwrap® System, the protection and strengthening works were done smoothly to the clients’ full satisfaction.
