Two large fire sprinkler tanks at the Changi Airfreight Centre, Changi Airport, has been losing water due to leakages that have sprung over the years. The contributing factors to this are attributed to the failure if its existing waterproofing system as well as cracks in the concrete wall and slab that have surfaced over time.
A tender was called by the Changi Airport Group’s facility maintenance department, and Fibrwrap Construction Pte Ltd’s bid was accepted over many other offers by others. The complexity of this project is that there is only one access in and out of each tank, and it is through this access that all the ventilation required by confined space safety requirements need to be adhered to strictly. On top of that the debris from removal of the existing waterproofing system out of the tank were a lot.
Fibrwrap Construction’s workers, all certified for confined space work, worked on the two tanks for four months, and successfully waterproofed the two tanks using the TYFO® Fibrwrap® Waterproofing System.
